Edward A. Smith, M.D., Retired
Orthopaedic Surgery
Dr. Smith is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with special interest in degenerative diseases of the hip, knee and shoulder. A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine (1969), he completed his residency at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (Peoria, Illinois).
He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, located in Peoria, Illinois. He has also served as Medical Staff President (1993 – 1994) and as Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics (1986 – 1991) at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Dr. Smith is on-staff at all three Peoria-area hospitals and is an
active member of numerous organizations, including the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Illinois
State Orthopaedic Society, the Central Illinois Orthopaedic
Society and the Peoria Medical Society.
Born in Taylorville, Illinois, Dr. Smith earned his
Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois
(Urbana). He currently resides in Peoria, Illinois.
