Sports Medicine & Arthroscopic Surgery
Dr. Merkley is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with specialized training in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. A 1993 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, IL., he completed his residency at Grand Rapids Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition, he completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Hughston Sports Medicine Foundation in Columbus, Georgia.
Dr. Merkley is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He also serves as the Team Physician for Illinois Central College and Eureka High School.
Dr. Merkley is on-staff at all three Peoria-area hospitals and is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Hughston Society, the American Medical Association and the Peoria Medical Society.
Born in Princeton, Illinois, Dr. Merkley earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois (Urbana). He currently resides in Peoria, Illinois with his wife and two children.
