Michael J. Gibbons, M.D.
Sports Medicine & Arthroscopic Surgery

Dr. Gibbons is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with specialized training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery, including the diagnosis and treatment of complex problems of the knee and shoulder. A graduate from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine (1989), he completed his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition, he completed a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center (Cincinnati, Ohio).

Dr. Gibbons is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Illinois College of Medicine, located in Peoria, Illinois. He also serves as Team Physician for Eureka College, Illinois Central College and several area high schools.

Dr. Gibbons is on-staff at all three Peoria-area hospitals and is an active member of numerous organizations, including the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, the Association of Professional Team Physicians and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Gibbons earned his undergraduate degree at Brown University (Providence, Rhode Island), where he excelled as a four-year starter for the Brown Bears football team. He currently resides in Peoria, Illinois with his wife and two children.
