Athletic Training

Athletic TrainingMidwest Orthopaedic Center has 4 certified athletic trainers (ATC) who provide exceptional athletic training to many area schools, organizations, and community events. Our ATCs are licensed health care professionals educated and experienced in the prevention, recognition, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. ATCs assist injured athletes with immediate care of acute injuries, as well as rehabilitation, and perform daily and/or weekly injury checks at local schools.

Midwest Orthopaedic Center provides contracts that can be negotiated based on your school needs which include weekly ATC injury checks, game and tournament coverage, and educational programs. In the event of an injury that would require physician referral, our ATCs will screen your athletes insurance for acceptable coverage and MOC will provide priority scheduling allowing your athlete to be seen within 24 hours on business days.

The athletic trainer must be knowledgeable and competent in a variety of specialty areas encompassed under the umbrella of "sports medicine" if he or she is to be effective in preventing, and treating injuries to the athlete. ATCs must graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training, pass a national board exam, and maintain current Illinois State Licensure as well as First Aid and CPR/AED certifications. Athletic trainers also must maintain continuing education to stay current in their NATABOC certification.
